E is a vowel and the most used letter in written English. At the start of egg, elephant, elbow and envelope it makes the short sound, a quick "eh". In eagle, emu and even it says its own name, the long sound. At the end of words like cake and bike it is often silent and changes the vowel before it. Capital E is a tall line down with three lines going right: one at the top, one in the middle and one at the bottom. The middle one is often a little shorter. Lowercase e is made differently: begin with a short line across the middle from left to right, then curve up, over and around to the left and finish with an open tail at the bottom right, like a C with a bar inside.
